We offer confidential spiritual counseling whatever your need might be: illness, strained relationships, family crisis, or the death of a loved one. Pastoral care takes many forms at St. John’s. Clergy make hospital and home visits and meet with parishioners for pastoral counseling. For pastoral care, please contact our Church Administrator at 415.456.1102, x102.
Our CARES Committee consists of Lay Eucharistic Visitors, who bring communion to those unable to join us on Sunday morning; and lay caregivers, who are trained to offer caring, confidential listening th those who are going through something difficult. The members of the Care Committee remind us that caring for one another is not just the work of the clergy, but the ministry of every Christian. If you might like to meet with a member of our Care Committee, please contact Rev. Heather Erickson at 415.456.1102, x104 or via email.
One of the most important ways that we can care for our loved ones is by planning in faith and hope for the end of our lives. Our clergy are available for conversation about these issues. Several important resources are available below.
My Confidential Documents This form helps you to organize all of your passwords, accounts, and important information. In the event of an emergency, a loved one can access all of your information and help to care for you. Make sure to keep this document secure, and let a trusted friend or relative know how to gain access to it.
–Planning for a Celebration of Life: Once you have completed your funeral plans, you may keep them on record at ST. John’s. It is also a good idea to let your family or friends know how to gain access to this document in the event of your death.
–Advance Health Care Directive: Make important decisions about the care you wish to receive and who will make decisions for you if you are unable to do so. You must either have this signed and dated by two non-related people or have it notarized in order for it to be a legal document. Give copies to doctors & loved ones.
–POLST Form: If, after conversation with your doctor and loved ones, you do not wish to be resuscitated, this form helps paramedics to follow your wishes. Print it out on bright pink paper and place on your refrigerator. If you do not have pink paper, ask your doctor for this form.
We pray, worship and celebrate the Gospel responding to the needs of our communities while building relationships to support us on our journey of faith.
St. John’s is a spiritual home that welcomes all, loves and respects all, and serves all in Christ’s name.
